While you are on a remodeling kick, you can remodel your bathroom(s) to gain some extra value. You could also go ahead and remodel your home office. Many people nowadays work from home or have a need for a home office, so instead of saying you have an office/bedroom, go ahead and make it a full blown office so you can catch the interest of potential buyers. Having updated bathrooms is always nice. This may mean you have done some retiling or even changed the space to have a standing shower and then a separate bathtub or whirlpool. Whatever you decide to do, make sure you use the best of the best. Don’t do a nice remodel with cheap quality upgrades. Go the full mile and get long lasting high quality upgrades for all of your remodels.
Some people decide to get a second mortgage or home equity loan to help them improve their home’s value. They may decide to use this to help pay for the costs to do any landscaping, upgrades or remodeling. However, if you decide that you want to add value to your home by using a second mortgage or home equity loan, make sure that the improvements your make to your home will actually add value. If you plan on making improvements that don’t up the resale value on your home, then when it comes time to sell, you will find that you are actually losing the money you used on upgrades.
So, now that you know a few ways to add some value to your home, what do you think would work best for you and your family?
